About Hy80
From the town of Newton in Sussex County, New Jersey came the drummer/bass duo of Kevin and Dan Hyland- who with their sister Ellen, took their music downtown to Jersey City where they met up with guitarist Gary Townsley and Hy80 was born.Hy80's music draws from a variety of rock, folk, and blues influences with a wide thematic variation. They're also a noteworthy "jam band" on the local scene- their live performances are always different and always a great time. The group can currently be found playing their original music at many New Jersey/ New York venues.

We specialize in a sound based not only on energy, but also on vocal harmonies and a dynamism not seen by todays standards. Not afraid to call ourselves fans of 60s and 70s groups ranging from The Who and Kinks to Neil Young, we also get into the less mentionable Humble Pie and Fairport Convention. Yeah, we like Nazareth and Thin Lizzy and Free. We like more cowbell. We can be quite jam-oriented and free to experimentation. Were also folkie in substance and high energy in execution.</font>
