Do You Like the Concept of This League in Path of Exile?
I am currently really enjoying the things it brings with it. First of some words about me as a PoE player. I am a deeply casual who barely ever engages in trade as I just do not enjoy it but I am also not a SSF player as I mostly play in a duo with my GF, combined we have roughly 7000 hours in PoE. 'But you have so many hours, you are not a filthy casual' I hear you say, but to put into the right light, I have never encountered Shaper or one of his guardians and fought Atziri maybe like 20 - 30 times tops.
I really enjoy the targeting crafting. I can see myself at some point farming specific monsters to do specific recipes over and over. It is a really nice casual way to farm items. The difference to just speed farming to gain poe currency and buy poe items you want is that you have short term goals which are specific. The beast crafts have a nice goal, a finish line. Last league I was actually enjoying farming myself an Oni-Goroshi because of the same reasons. You have a real goal, not just a rough plan what you want to buy with your path of exile currency. Back then when divination cards were introduced I was really hyped because of the implementation of targeted farming but we all know how that went.
I'm a fairly new ish player (this is my second league) and I went for a cyclone build this time around. I don't care about clearspeed, that ability/build that I picked just seemed fun. I'm now worried that because of the build I picked I'm going to eventually be kind of screwed over when it comes to the actual league mechanics that were added. I feel like it's going to be a battle of me trying to stop the cyclone/various attack animations and the net animation. All of that combined with the fact that I play with my husband a lot of the time and he's running a flameblast build for the first time (which he's having a blast with). I feel like the league mechanics are just going to be frustrating against the actual game mechanics (they already are, honestly, and we're only level ~30).
In my opinion, I absolutely love the concept of this league, I think it's actually a really unique idea for a game like this. It just feels so incredibly clunky. It feels like it battles everything else the game is about, and in multiplayer it's honestly just painful. Even though we both can capture the same monster, the window for it randomly feels incredibly small. Sometimes we both get it, sometimes one net has a longer animation than the other persons (or it's lag? I'm not sure honestly). Trying to target a rare is a pain when they're spawning 30 other smaller things and you have two people dancing around and trying to lead the one you want away from the pack of the rest of them without just murdering it. It's a bummer because I think the core idea is fantastic, it just needs to be implemented better.
