influenced by the Beatles and Tchaikovsky.

more... Marina’s story reads like the biography of a James Bond villainess. Born in Russia to a communist / nuclear physicist, she grew up studying martial arts, skiing, computers, skateboarding and, of course, playing music. She came to the States alone as a teenager to study languages, business and politics, meanwhile enjoying stints as a model, translator, and an athlete on a women’s ice hockey team. Perhaps this unique background has guided Marina in the evolution of her intriguing style and sound. ~ ChicagoGigs.com

Russian-born & Los Angeles-based Marina V is a young and charismatic pop/rock recording artist with an incredible life story and a “hauntingly beautiful” sound (L.A. Times). Influenced by the Beatles and Tchaikovsky, Marina's music style has been described as an unusual mix of Tori Amos, Jewel & Paul McCartney, but "with her unique phrasing, breathless, smoky-sweet and compelling vocals, she's got a sound all her own" (Artists Studio Magazine).

Marina grew up in Moscow going to a regular school during the day & a school of music at night. Discouraged by her classical piano teacher who called Marina’s own songs “nonsense,” Marina was writing songs just for herself. At 15, she won a prestigious academic contest, beating thousands of Russian peers, and came to America to study for a year. She permanently moved to the USA at 17 (same year her mother moved to Australia), and after winning the 1st prize at a talent show at her college in Illinois, Marina started performing and hasn’t stopped since. When the music industry came knocking, Marina & her songwriting partner, Nick Baker, moved to Los Angeles and signed with major manager David Krebs, who's been involved in building the careers of Aerosmith, Don McLean, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, among others.

A prolific writer, Marina has independently released 4 albums: “Something of My Own” (2003), “Simple Magic” (2005), “Live at SoundMoves” (2006) and “Modern Fairytale” (2008). Two of the songs on “Simple Magic” were produced by the legendary producer, Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, etc). Her newest album, “Modern Fairytale” was recorded at the beautiful home studio of legendary musician, Graham Nash.

Marina is now the latest buzz around the Hollywood clubs. A self-described ambitious workaholic, Marina has performed over 500 shows in the USA and internationally (from L.A. & NYC to Moscow, Prague & London, etc). While looking for an artist-friendly record label, Marina is writing, recording, touring, and gaining new fans every day. For latest news, please see www.MarinaV.com
